SANE FOLKS please stand up! I just can't take it! Cameron Giles a.k.a Cam'ron was on 60 minutes... with his dumb ass commentary on "stop snitching". Where was Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for this insanity? Where were the protest and the media outcry? Where are the SANE FOLKS?
I don't watch the news much these days, because I don't know when it happened, but "reputable" news media now promote "jerry springerish" news. Is it that news has changed or are we truly a "jerry springerish" society. I believe we have not gone that far and I ask that all the SANE FOLKS please stand up!
I hate to even post the link about this dumb ass, but I know it will be forwarded to me in a email at least 10 times today with my peers commenting about how "stupid" Cam'ron is, but I truly feel we need to do more than just comment in an email forward. SANE FOLKS please stand up!
I am a true fan of comedy and love a good laugh... it always gets me through the day... but this sh*t ain't funny and I am outraged. The ideology behind dumb ass's commentary about stop snitching is costing lives... and is so much worse for the Black community than what Imus said... SANE FOLKS PLEASE STAND UP!!!!
Here is the link to CBS News in case you are like me and don't really watch the news:

Please comment on this blog post... What I would like to see is the SANE FOLKS STAND UP and in your comments please offer a possible means for the SANE FOLKS to stand up!

i only pay attention to him to make fun of him. didn't even care to watch 60 minutes with him on it.
Are we ready to be a Sane society? It seems that we would rather bury our dead and tie teddy bears and flowers to street poles where they took their last breath instead. We are in fact living in an insane society. Inner-city youth are buying into the bull and what's worst is- so are the grown folk!
This rapper was asked what he would do if a serial killer was living next door to him and he said he wouldn't "snitch" . . . he'd just move. Well he can probably afford to up and run but can you? You may be next on this killers list, or the rapist, or the child molester. If you are okay with letting it go so not to be a "snitch", then be prepared to live horrified the rest of your days. Be prepared to have to fight and kill when your loved one is raped, beaten, or killed and you have to see this MF in the grocerey store buying milk the next day like "no big deal!"
You know what, what ever happen to the saying "man up"? If you're a big bad killer then put the bullets in him, but don't run off. Stay there with the smoking gun and tell the world that this SOB deserved it and that you are man enough (woman, girl, boy, child enough) to pay the price and do yo bid. No one should have to "snitch" on you if you did what you "had to do". If that is the case don't run and hide in your moma's attic. Don't head out to your nana's ex husband's friend's house in the back woods of Georgia to hide. If you are a killer, you should stand up! Don't leave it to the eight year old to live with the trauma of seeing you kill his uncle and having to act like nothing happened.
Yes people, STAND UP! Cam'ron can move away or get an ontourage to "protect him". But you're broke ass is in the hood, with your kids, your people, your family. Your ass has to stay here, live here, and maybe die a tragic death here.
You are not important to the media, the rappers, or the damn killers, rapist, drug dealers, and child molesters. Their code is "let me keep victimizing yo' dumb ass." And they will.
Hey girl, Ms Today, I choose..., and real quick be4 I give you my thoughts-I was reading a few of your posted blogs, girl ya just full thoughts and they're just waiting to come out-you should write a book or something...Wow...well anyways thanks for putting me in the loop.
An as for the "Sane Folks please stand up" blog, I'm with you girl. I didn't see 60mins. but I will say that Cam'ron has been know to make stupid comments and to even do stupid/outlandish things.
It just make you wonder why would someone that could help make such a strong positive impact in the community want to waste all that time and energy on such things that don't half make sense...Girl please don't let me get started.
Anyways girl I'm diggin your blogspot!!!
I watched this with Vera on Sunday. It's not just what he was saying, but it was that pompous/callous smirk he had on his face while saying it. Dude deserves to get his a$$ beat for real. Because while being shot is one thing, it's entirely another to have someone whoop up on you and humble you real quick. MAN to MAN. I'm actually throwing out a ton of music this week. CDs and deleting .mp3s. These people will not have any more of my money.
Pops- I know what you mean. I didn't watch it, but then seeing him get more airtime the next day on a morning show just really set me off.
Cas-you inspired me to post on cbsnews.
w.alex- thank you!
BZ- I must say I use to love Busta Rhymes and many of his songs have been in heavy rotation depending on my mood over the years. I didn't follow the news around the death of his bodyguard, cuz I really don't watch the news much. But after reading other reports about Busta's silence and the family's outrage, I have to take his music out of rotation. That is so disappointing!
Why are we acting like "stop snitching" is something new. Uhm hello, let's not forget that both Biggie and Tupac were killed in public and ain't no one said shyt. This whole marketing campaign for "stop snitching" started when the Game was calling 50 cent a snitch. Now the white media is just selling this concept as a means to keep black folks ignant (that's right ignant) along with all the other foolish hip-hop that they're shoving down our throats. But guess what, it's the white youth that are picking up on this bullshyt and it's only a matter of time before, in the words of Malcolm X, the chickens come back home to roost. I love hip-hop, I really do. But I stopped listening to the words years ago. Now all I hear is the beat. I know degrading women, senseless violence, and drug dealing are awful topics for songs but I can't stop bobbing my headed. I have no solution for stopping the insanity of the rap industry cause as long as it sells it will only get worse, and I know I ain't buying it cause I download all my music for free. Still it would be nice for sane folks to have a voice. Unfortunately we are not the majority and we never will be. And it's not just black people. America as a whole voted for Bush twice!! That should tell you something about the sanity of this country.
